Fred Perry

Today I haven't felt well, and I've been staying at my boyfriend's house, so I'm wearing some of the same clothes as yesterday. Sorry.

Fred Perry polo - hand me down
My Dad gave me this Fred Perry because he didn't wear it anymore. It's blue all over including the loral leaf, and has a little collar (like smaller than normal). I really like Fred Perry shirts, but they're so expensive. Even on eBay the nice ones end up costing quite a lot. So it was great to get one for free. Tom loves them too, so I'm gonna let him share this one. Here's a close up to show the collar...
It was quite cold at Tom's today so I wore this jumper again. But it actually went with the polo shirt. If you didn't see my last post this jumper is from a vintage shop in Edinburgh. I think it was called Armstrong.
I accessorised with this Grandma watch, which I got for 50p from a flea market. It doesn't work but most of my watches don't. I just liked the style of it.

Black and Blue

Jumper - Vintage shop (Edinburgh)
Skirt - H&M - £3
Glittery leggings - Primark - £7
Coat - H&M (pictured later)

I got this jumper at a vintageshop in Edinburgh last year, I think it was the one called 'Armstrong'. I had been looking for a pastel coloured vintage jumper for a while, and this one was in the sale because it had a very small hole in the wool (which was easy enough to sew up).
I am wearing my black stretchy skirt again because this jumper isn't long enough to wear on it's own with leggings. The leggings I've got on are really decent for being from Primark. They've got glittery threads woven into them and I thought they were really cute. They also wok really well with Christmas outfits; I wore them loads last Winter which is when I first got them.
I also wanted to show you the coat that I wore with this outfit. This used to be my Mum's until it got too small for her, so it's been around a long time. It's still in really good condition though. It's fairly plain, just a light weight parka type coat, but it's very versatile and goes with most outfits. You can cinch the waist right in if you want, with drawstrings. I also like it's deep pockets.
Hooray! I made a blog post! Thanks for reading :) x

Temporary Dreads

Hi, I've seen a lot of girls recently with dreads in the underneath layers of their hair, and cute beads and stuff in them. So I watched some youtube videos on how to do them.
This is the technique that I followed: Temporary dreads diy video

It's really easy to do and I found that they had pretty much come out after 4 washes of your hair, if you make no effort to keep them in. If you re-backcomb them each day they will last for longer.

All I used was: comb, hairspray, straighteners, and beads. Obviously the beads are optional, it just depends on your taste. I didn't use specially made dreadlock beads. They are just plastic ones that I already had in the house. Literally just the cheap ones you would use to make jewellery when you were a little kid.
Here are some pictures of the dreads I have in at the moment, sorry if it's hard to see them.

At the moment I only have 3 in, and I have them on the lower layer of my hair. But since I've had them I've been wearing the top layer of my hair tied up in a mini ponytail so that you can see the more of the dreads.

Cosy outfit post

Autumn has definitely come in the North-East, it's time to wrap up in layers and brace yourself against those icy North Sea winds. I'm not planing on going out just yet, I want to stay in the warm for as long as possible, but tonight I'm going to see y boyfriend's new house. I might be getting the bus there which means waiting in the cold, so I've wrapped myself in knitted goods.

Jumper - eBay - approx £3
Skirt - H&M - £3
Knitted leggings - Primark, these were originally tights - £2.50
Necklace - The Mymble's daughter - http://www.mymblesdaughter.com/

I love this jumper, I think it's one of the best things I've ever bought off eBay. It's a tartan effect with a little collar and has some gold buttons at the neck. I wear it pretty much all year, it's not massively thick so you can wear it just as a top and not be too hot. I don't know if it's vintage, I can't remember what it said on the listing. The brand name in the tag is "Ayrbell".

The necklace that I'm wearing was a Christmas present last year, but I've only just started wearing it recently. It came with a short ribbon, but I put it onto this long gold chain myself. It has vintage-style picture of Little red riding hood on it, and the website it's from has loads of cute kitsch type jewellery.

My skirt is so useful, I wear it loads because it can go with anything. It's particularly handy for wearing over leggings if your top is not quite long enough to cover your crotch! It's just totally plain t-shirt material, so you don;t get the bodycon problem of your tummy being really squashed and feeling like you can't eat in case you get a food baby. Mine is from H&M and was so cheap, you can get other basic colours too. You can probably get something similar in Primark as well.
The leggings are cable knit and just cute for the Autumn/Winter. They make a change to normal black leggings. Primark is really good for knitted tights and leggings. However I have found that their leggings fit well but tights are usually a bit too short. If you have a petite figure this shouldn't be a problem. If you are fairly tall like me (5"7) they might not be so good. This is why I cut the ends off this pair and turned them into leggings, because it gave them a bit of extra length and now they fit fine :)

Autumn Outfit

Today is all chilly and dull so I wore a cosy Autumn outfit. Also it is really cold inside my new house as well as outside. It's time for knitting and snuggling up!

Cardigan: Thrifted (originally from Zara)
Owl jumper: Primark, pyjama section
High waisted shorts: DIY
Black wool leggings: Primark, were originally tights but I cut the feet off.

I love these shorts so much! To make them I bought a pair of boring jeans from a charity shop(£1) I got cheap ones to start with in case they went wrong. I chose a pair that were 2 sizes too big for me. I cut the legs off to the knees. Then I rolled them up (I kept trying them on during this, to check they looked how I wanted them to). I put a few stitches on the inside and outside of the legs to keep them rolled up. They need to be worn with a belt because the waist is so big, this was the aim. I was going for a baggy cinched in 90's style.

The owl jumper was from the pyjama section in Primark, but I wouldn't like to wear it in bed because it would be too thick. I think it was supposed to be like a sweatshirt to wear over your pyjamas in the morning, but I just wear it as a normal jumper. It has elbow patches and the owl is wearing ear muffs- so cute!

It never stopped raining

Today really felt like the first day of Autumn. That lovely late summer weather we'd been having is so gone!
So I wrapped up. This picture is taken at my new uni house, I just wanted to show off how cute the windows are. I am wearing:
Lobster jumper - Primark (Men's section)
Leggings - Primark
Satchel - Paper Planes
Slippers - Marks and Spencer - IT WAS COLD OKAY!
I love this jumper, its thick and warm but the pictures are still summery. I'm gonna try to hold onto those summer feels for as long as possible guys.

Christmas jobs

Today I went out to try and find somewhere that was hiring people for Christmas jobs. I have a form to hand in to TK Maxx, and the Disney shop said I should bring my CV in tomorrow. But Lush had already taken on all their Christmas staff and it would have been really cool to work there :( Never mind though!

Thursday, 5 September 2013

It was me and Tom's date day today, we went to the 'Winter gardens and museum' in Sunderland. It's free entry and there was lots more museum exhibits than I'd been expecting. There was also some art exhibitions, one was off some embroidered scenes by Grayson Perry and they were so good! When you stood back it really looked like they'd been painted.
My favourite part was where they had items from the 'recent' past (about 30's-90's) from people's homes. There was stuff like the first mobile phones and it showed you how what people eat for their tea has changed through time!
There was a teeny play house, so obviously we went inside.
"Would you like some tea?"
This is me, very busy, hanging my washing up to dry.

There was a few live animals too. In the winter gardens section there were Koi Carp, and in the 'living world' exhibit there were turtles, a tarantula, and some fish. I may have spent a bit too long watching the turtles, but they were just too cute!

Flannel shirt outfit

Today was really hot too, so this time I wore a black stretchy skirt and long vest, with my flannel shirt over the top. I don't usually wear plain tops but this outfit gave me the chance to show off some necklaces.
It was such a nice day that we decided to take a short cut through the park on our way into town. I'm still exploring the area around my new house though.

Flannel shirt - Topshop
Long vest - Primark
Stretchy skirt - H&M
Vans - eBay

These shorts are tweed...

T-shirt -New look
Cardigan - Thrifted
Shorts - Primark
Vans - eBay
Satchel - Paper Planes

This was my outfit from yesterday for going for lunch at a Chinese all you can eat buffet. I always find it hard to dress for all you can eat, because I need to wear something that won't be too restricting on my tummy! Also we're having some later summer sun so didn't want to wear leggings (which are stretchy and comfy, but too hot right now).
